    Anthony Firkser 2021 Dynasty Outlook

Entering the 2020 season, Anthony Firkser was the Titans' backup tight end to Jonnu Smith and he still finished as TE27. Smith ended last season with a 69% snap share and Firkser ended with a 32% snap share. As the 2021 season approaches, we now know that Smith is gone, signing with the New England Patriots.

That leaves Firkser for the TE1 job, and not much else behind him for competition. His current dynasty outlook is pointing up. Based on IDPGUYS May TE Premium ADP, Firkser is coming in as TE28. I think that is way too low and I'm going to tell you why Anthony Firkser's 2021 dynasty outlook is trending up.

Titans Not Drafting A Rookie Tight End

Going into this year's draft, some people thought that the Titans would draft a rookie tight end, and others didn't think they would address that position in the 2021 rookie draft. As it turns out, the team didn't draft a rookie tight end, and the only other tight end on the roster worth mentioning is veteran Geoff Swaim.

Both factors are great news for Anthony Firkser's 2021 dynasty outlook. Here is a current list of available free-agent tight ends, and none of them seem capable of threatening Firkser. I don't think the Packers will let Robert Tonyan get away.

Why Anthony Firkser Will Have TE1/2 Potential In 2021

Here is Jonnu Smith's 2020 stat line: 41 receptions, 448 receiving yards, 8 receiving touchdowns, 65 targets, 2 rushing attempts, 4 rushing yards, and 1 rushing touchdown. With those numbers, Smith finished as tight end 14. As you will notice, the real big difference between Smith and Firkser's 2020 production is touchdowns, Smith was +8.

Now that Smith is gone, Firkser should see a nice uptick in playing time, which should allow him to equal -- if not beat -- Smith's 2020 production. With how much the Titans like to run the ball, their tight ends need to be able to block, which is something Jonnu Smith did very well. If Firkser wants to see an increase in his playing time in 2021, he will need to improve as a blocker. Titans GM Jon Robinson stated that earlier this off-season:

I think that Firkser will improve as a blocker, thus solidifying his spot as the tight end 1 for the Titans, in 2021. As I look at all of my dynasty leagues, I am noticing that Firkser is widely available on the waiver wire. For those of you in rookie drafts, I would strongly encourage you to use a mid-round draft pick on him.

After the big three tight ends -- Kelce, Waller, and Kittle -- why not take a chance on Firkser as your TE1 if you can, especially in tight end premium dynasty leagues?
