Ron looks at the injuries heading into Week Three. How do they impact your IDP fantasy players?

    WEEK 3
    SUNDAY, SEP 23, 2018

The bills are still dealing with injury concerns to defensive and Shaq Lawson as he was the only one to miss practice entirely for reasons other than the rest. Eddie Yarbrough will receive an increase in snaps as he as previously when Lawson is out. As for the Vikings, Everson Griffen was the only defense of player to miss practice this week. It is likely that by Sunday Griffen will no longer be on the injury report.

Two key defensive players for the bangles we’re limited in practice on Wednesday. Preston Brown who has been dealing with an ankle issue for the past two weeks was joined by Michael Johnson who has been dealing with a knee injury since Thursday nights game. It is very likely that both will see the field on Sunday but will likely head into the contest with a questionable designation.

The Panthers looked ahead in this Sunday’s game with a very shorthanded secondary due to rookie corner Donte Jackson missing practice with the groin injury and Da’Norris Searcy going through the concussion protocol. Jackson has a higher chance of suiting up for the game but I wouldn’t look to count on either.

The Broncos are dealing with injuries to linebacker Brandon Marshall (knee) and cornerback Adam Jones(thigh). Marshals injury doesn’t sound like it’s very serious but will still want to be monitored up until game time. If Marshall can’t go Josey Jewell will likely get the start in his absence. The Ravens are still dealing with a few almonds on the defense of side also.

C.J. Mosley will likely be out this game still dealing with a bone bruise. Kenny Young will most likely step in as the replacement as he’s done previously. Defensive tackle Michael Pierce was also absent from Wednesday’s practice dealing with a foot issue you are heading to Sunday’s game the questionable designation leaving the door open for Chris Wormley to get the start.

Green Bay Packers secondary looks to head into Sunday banged up with cornerback Kevin King not practicing all week. Plus corner Devon House and safety Josh Jones were limited in practice leading out to Wednesday. While the Jones injury is not a major concern, the injuries to King and House could lead to rookies Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson seeing an increased amount of playing time on Sunday.

The Redskins will be heading to Sunday’s game a little bit healthier on defense but with one major question mark in Zack Brown who is limited in practice on Wednesday and will likely be limited leading up to Sunday. He did play last weekend with the same injury and recorded 10 tackles across 51 defensive snaps.

Both the Colts and the Eagles will look to head into Sunday’s game with healthy defenses as no player on defense for either team has appeared on the injury report this week.

New Orleans at Atlanta 1:00 pm

The Saints linebacker Manti Te’o was the only defensive player listed on the injury report. Te'o missed Wednesday’s practice completely. This ailment could provide A.J. Klein with more snaps at middle linebacker as he attempts to secure the position that he had held down last year. The Falcons continue their injury woes as to defensive ends missed practice. Takk McKinley and Derrick Shelby both have been dealing with groin issues and are considered day to day. Dan Quinn was optimistic stating both will likely play on Sunday.

N.Y. Giants at Houston 1:00 pm

The Giants need a pass rusher, but it looks like they will have to make do for another week without Olivier Vernon. Vernon remains sidelined with an ankle injury. Connor Barwin and Eli Apple missed practice all week too. All three will likely be out for this week's game. Their absences leave opportunities on the table for Ray Ray Armstrong and Lorenzo Carter at linebacker. B.W. Webb and Tae Davis will look to fill in for Apple.

As for Houston, J.J. Watt is listed on the injury report Wednesday. However, he did practice in full so that looks to be a positive note for Sunday’s game. Jadeveon Clowney was limited in Wednesday’s practice with back and elbow issues. This shouldn’t be considered a major concern. Clowney is well known for making appearances in games while having multiple injury designations so in a similar fashion as 2017 most expect Clowney to suit up and play through it.

    Oakland at Miami 1:00 pm

The dolphin safety Reshad Jones was limited in practice on Wednesday due to a shoulder injury. It is likely not a major concern as he played every defensive of snap last week.

As for the Raiders, they follow suit with the dolphins with only one defense of player on there end to report. P.J. Hall, the rookie defensive tackle, was the only unlucky defense of player to be held out of Wednesday’s practice with an ankle injury. He is considered questionable right now but will likely suit up for Sunday’s game. If he is not able to go, look for another rookie fifth-round defensive tackle Maurice Hearst to make the start.

San Francisco at Kansas City 1:00 pm

Eric Berry remained sidelined at Wednesday's practice as he is still nursing a heel injury. The team is also without Chris Jones on their defensive line. Both players are likely to miss Sunday’s game, which should provide even more scoring opportunities for San Francisco. As for San Francisco, they too were dealing with issues in their secondary.  Jaquiski Tartt being sidelined with a shoulder injury along with Ahkello Witherspoon. Both players prognosis is a little bit more optimistic as both will be likely to play on Sunday.

    Tennessee at Jacksonville 1:00 pm

Both the Jags and Titans defense avoided the injury report this week. Though the same cannot be said for their offenses. This should be a positive sign. The Titans who have had at least two linebackers listed on her injury report since week one of the preseason.

    L.A. Chargers at L.A. Rams 4:05 pm

Chargers pass rusher Joey Bosa remained sidelined Wednesday as he is still recovering from a foot injury. He was the only Chargers defensive player listed on the injury report. We have not received a definite answer as to if Bosa will play this Sunday, but the odds seem very unlikely. As for the Rams, it looks as if we will have to wait another week for Michael Brockers and Mark Barron’s debut this season As both have remained out of practice this week.

    Chicago at Arizona 4:25 pm

Chicago will head into this Sunday’s game against Arizona with a fully healthy defense. The Bears look to continue the dominance that they’ve shown through the past two games. While dominant may not be a word to describe Arizona’s defense this year, they will head into the game healthy with no players being listed on their injury report up to Wednesday.

    Dallas at Seattle 4:25 pm

Sean Lee is back with a well-known spot on the Cowboys' injury report. He missed Wednesday’s practice with a hamstring injury. While Xavier Woods has finally seen the field and practiced in a limited capacity. This bodes well for his chances of playing this Sunday and make his debut this season. The Seahawks are still without KJ Wright who is dealing with an injury. Bobby Wagner has now stayed on the injury report with the groin injury though he did practice in full and will likely be back in the lineup after missing week 2.

New England at Detroit 8:20 pm

Both the Patriots and the Lions will be heading into this weeks game with players in the concussion protocol. Trey Flowers and Patrick Chung were absent from Wednesday’s practice as they recover from concussions. Flowers isn’t able to go look for Adam Butler and Dietrich wise to see an increase in workload.

It’s becoming a real possibility the Patriots secondary will be anchored by McCourty’s at both safety positions if Chung sits. On the Detroit side of the ball, Darius Slay was absent from practice while recovering from a concussion. This leaves the door open for Jamal Agnew who recently was taken off the injury report after a limited practice earlier this week due to a shoulder issue.

Ezekiel Ansah remained on the injury report for the second straight week with a shoulder injury. Though he did practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday and will look to suit up as he did last Sunday.

    MONDAY, SEP 24, 2018

The Steelers will head to Monday’s game two players on defense questionable. Stephon Tuitt did turn in a full practice though was listed with an undisclosed illness. Morgan Burnett’s provided limited practices all week as he deals with a groin injury. Both should be on track to play. For the Buccaneers vita via finally, return to practice in a limited capacity. He will look to make his debut on Monday night. Brent Grimes was taken off of the injury report after practicing in full all week.
