Calvin Ridley Is Missing The Week 5 Field Trip To London

Calvin Ridley is not making the trip to London for the Falcons' Week 5 game against the Jets.

Adam Schefter has reported that Ridley was suddenly out for Week 5 due to a personal matter and will not be traveling with the team.

Calvin Ridley's Season To-Date

Ridley has 42 targets through four weeks of the NFL season, 16 more than the next closest receiving option, tight end Kyle Pitts. With fellow wide receiver Russell Gage also ruled out for the game, the Falcons will have to turn to their rookie tight end as well as the resurgent Cordarrelle Patterson.

Patterson has 22 targets on the season (third-most on the team) for 235 yards and four touchdowns. The absence of Ridley gives Patterson managers some confidence in a continued workload. However, without a true number one receiver on the field, I fear the Falcons may struggle to move the ball on offense.

I believe that Pitts will continue in his current role, but may see some increased involvement. This increases my confidence in him in PPR formats, but I'm nervous that his touchdown opportunity will be much less.

If you are looking for a long-shot cheap option for DFS, Olamide Zaccheaus is the only other wide receiver with any consistent involvement. In redraft formats, I would stay away unless desperate.

I am a veterinarian who has been playing fantasy football off and on since high school. About 12 years ago, I got more competitive and serious about fantasy football when I started a league with some other friends who were in vet school with me at the time. I started playing IDP about 3 years ago and have become even more obsessed with fantasy football. I have what I would call an evidence-based approach to fantasy football and love to track data in spreadsheets. I began writing for IDP Guys in the summer of 2021 and look forward to contributing to the amazing team moving forward. Thanks for reading!
