• Dynasty Football: Players to Buy After Free Agency

Free agency has come and gone, and the NFL draft is over. What players can you buy low on in dynasty and expect a big 2023?

Dynasty football always shifts due to free agency and numerous players find new homes. This means there are a ton of dynasty buys in these players or sells. This also means managers' dynasty rosters could have taken a major hit or gained momentum heading into 2023. Here are some players I will be trying to acquire all off-season and other fantasy managers should, too.

    Dynasty Buys

In Dynasty football, there are highs and lows just like the stock market and the crypto market. Players can go from major sell candidates to droppable back to being buy candidates.

Elijah Moore entered the dynasty football scene as our sweet prince before he suffered an injury that riddled his rookie season. From weeks 8-13, Moore was the WR7 on a ppg basis and the fantasy world will never forget that.

Since then, the Jets' utilization of Moore has been nothing but poor, horrendous, and all the synonyms of those words. When a team does not see the potential in a player, they make sure it is known.

Moore went from 12.6ppg in his rookie season to a staggering 5.5ppg in 2022. Everything from a statistical standpoint took a major dip just like DOGECOIN and LUNA.

Now, this off-season, the best thing for dynasty managers and Elijah Moore happened. The New York Jets sent Moore to the Cleveland Browns. Yes, Amari Cooper is the WR1 for the Browns, but David Bell should not put any type of fear into the Moore truthers and his status as the team's WR2.

    Moore's ranking on KTC

Before the trade, Moore was the WR50 on keeptradecut.com, and then 11 days later, the trade happened and Moore went up a few spots, but only up to WR42. Now, he sits as the WR43 which is not even a WR3 in standard 12-man leagues.

Deshaun Watson will finally have a full year under center in the Cleveland offense and look to enter back into the QB1 discussion. This means expect the passing volume to increase for the Browns and look to acquire Elijah Moore in dynasty football.

I recently acquired Moore by sending the 2.03 rookie pick and I'll do it over and over again. Try sending out a mid-second-round pick to Moore managers as some might have given up on him already even with a new landing spot.

Yes, the Browns have Nick Chubb, arguably a top-five running back, and will look to pound the ball once again, but being in the AFC with the best offenses residing in that conference, the Browns will have to pass the football in order to keep up.

    KJ Osborn

This has been one of my favorite trade targets in dynasty football. Even though I will say he is still the third option in the offense, teams will be more focused than ever on the undisputed WR1 in dynasty football.

Justin Jefferson will grab the attention of every team's top corner with possibly a safety over the top. Then, arguably a top-three tight-end in TJ Hockenson will grab more attention than this trade target.

KJ Osborn is entering his fourth NFL season and is in a prime position to have his best season yet. Adam Thielen was released by Minnesota and now resides in Carolina.

The Vikings did not bring in anyone in free agency to compete with KJ Osborn for the WR2 position on the team. The NFL draft can still see the Vikings bringing in another weapon, but I see it being a running back to pair with Alexander Mattison.

Osborn compiled a nice set of games in the last five weeks of the 2022 season. He finished as the WR7 on a ppg basis in that span and had the best game of his career. In Week 15, Osborn had 16 targets, 10 catches, 157 yards, and 31.2 fantasy points which made him the WR2 for that week.

Currently, Osborn is the WR69 on KTC and can easily be acquired for a late second or an early third. Osborn will finish as a top 30 WR in 2023 and the ROI dynasty managers can get on him will be worth shipping out a dart throw of a pick.

    Damien Harris

In 2021, Damien Harris exploded with a touchdown frenzy season scoring 15 touchdowns. Although he had less than 950 rushing yards and was the RB18 on a ppg basis, those six points off a touchdown are a thing of beauty.

In Dynasty football, Harris took a major dip after dealing with an injury in 2022 and also losing his RB1 crown on the Patriots to Rhamondre Stevenson. As he should, Harris moved on this off-season looking for another opportunity to produce for a team.

Not only did Harris land a one-year deal with a team, but with a division rival, the Buffalo Bills. Harris will work in a two-man backfield with James Cook. This is exceptional in my opinion as James Cook will be the speed back, and ball catcher and Harris will be the running back to gain those dirty yards, BUT most importantly, the goal line running back.

Josh Allen is the Buffalo Bills. He is the franchise and they will go as far as he takes them. In order to maintain his health, bringing in a running back like Harris can help Allen from being in those pile-ups near the end zone.

Harris was 12th in 2021 in red-zone touches and I predict for him to be around that range in 2023. Currently, Harris is the RB43 on KTC which is RB4 territory. Send out a late second or early third-round pick for Harris and enjoy the benefits of the ten-plus touchdowns he will score in the Bills high powered offense.

    Final thoughts

These are buys that should be made but keep in mind ANYTHING can happen and change the outcomes of these players with the NFL draft. Dynasty football can be very fun and very rewarding by playing it smartly. Do not overpay for these players. Be patient, smart, and responsible.
