Need some IDP Investments to help bolster your devy football portfolios for this season? I have you covered!

We’re over halfway into the college football season and Week 8 is now in the books. Maybe you’re looking for upgrades for your fantasy rosters. Or maybe, now that bye weeks are hitting heavy, you need some help filling them? I’m here to help you get the maximum return on your investments.

Before we get into this week’s options, I wanted to add something new to my IDP Devy Stock Market for Week 9. I want to take a quick review and show you the success or failure rate of the investments that I gave you last week.

Success Rate

In week 8, I picked five players, but DeWayne Carter, was on a bye so, I excluded him from this review. For reference, nine points or less is a miss, 10 to 19 is a hit, and over 20 is an explosive hit. With that, I hit on 75% of my suggested investments last week and 50% of those hits were explosive.

That’s a huge week by any stretch, but it's more impressive when you consider that all five were freshmen or sophomores.

Ben Bywater, linebacker for BYU, was a hit with 12 fantasy points on a six tackles (all solos). Toledo safety Maxen Hook was an explosive hit with 20 fantasy points on 10 tackles — 6 solos — and 1 fumble recovery.

Kansas State defensive end, Felix Anudike-Uzomah, was an explosive hit with 20 points on five tackles, — three solos — two TFLs, and one sack. My lone miss of the week was cornerback Kei’trel Clark for Louisville, who I still like long-term. He scored just five fantasy points on a three tackle — two-solos —  game.

Please keep in mind this list just isn’t for weekly investment options but also long-term investments that you should be adding to your IDP devy portfolios. Now let’s take a look at a few investments of my investments and liquidations for this week.

IDP Devy Stock Market Investments

1. Cam’ron Carter, LB, Colorado State

If you’re in need of help at the linebacker position, Carter is one of the hotter stocks over the last three weeks. In those three games, he has recorded 32 tackles, 5½ TFLs, 4 sacks, 1 interception, and 1 PBU.

Carter ranks in the top ten in the Mountain West Conference in both assisted tackles (31) and sacks (5). In seven games this season, Carter has 50 tackles, 6½ TFLs, 5 sacks, 1 interception, and 1 PBU. Fantasy managers have him rostered in just 1% of Fantrax fantasy leagues and is definitely worth a flyer. He is a great penny stock option that is paying off sizeable returns for investors.

2. Eyioma Uwzurike, DE, Iowa State

Uwazurike decided to return for his free year of college eligibility and is having the best season of his career. Through seven games, he has broken or is on pace to break many of his personal-best marks across the board. So far Uwazurike has registered 26 tackles, 11 solos, 7 TFLs, 5 sacks, and 1 blocked kick.

Uwazurike has at least one sack in five of the seven games played and ranks in the top ten in both TFLs (ninth) and sacks (third) in the Big-12 Conference. He is rostered in just 5% of Fantrax fantasy leagues, so grab him up while you can. At 6’6”/320 lbs, Uwazurike is really big for a defensive end, so I see him transitioning to defensive tackle at the next level. He’s an excellent IDP devy option with dual eligibility.

3. Luke Masterson, S, Wake Forest

Masterson has been well, masterful for the undefeated Demon Deacons defense this season. In seven games, Masterson has 48 tackles, 32 solos, five TFLs, 2½ sacks, and 1 forced fumble. He has had at least five tackles in all seven games and four games with seven or more.

At 6’2/231 lbs, Masterson is a big safety who plays down in the box like a linebacker. His 32 solo tackles so far this season rank sixth in the ACC. In Fantrax fantasy leagues, Masterson is rostered in only 13% of those leagues which makes him a terrific waiver wire addition to your IDP devy portfolios. He’s averaging 14.57 fantasy points per game which is great value for a player that costs you pennies to invest in.
