Taking a look at the NFL Week 9 from a IDP perspective; notes on what our writer @Orangeman3142 saw this weekend.

This is a continuation of our weekly article series that breaks down what we saw this week in IDP fantasy football. What happened and why, what we got right and what we got wrong and more importantly how to move forward and get better next week. We look at possible waivers and trends, snap counts and issues that affect production for your IDP team. Part two will cover the next three games of week Nine.

Keep an eye out for part three and make sure you read part one from yesterday. Let's get into it.

New York Jets @ Miami Dolphins

Jets: It was the dynamic duo once again at the top of the box score for the Jets this week, Avery Williamson (LB) and Jamal Adams (S) have been lights out the majority of this season and kept it going this week. Williamson recorded 12 combined tackles, 1 sack and 1 TFL on 100% of snaps and has been and continues to be a weekly auto start.

Adams put up 7 combined tackles, 1 TFL and 2 PD on 100% of snaps and is a weekly automatic start also. Daron Lee (LB) had a serviceable game with 6 combined tackles and 1 TFL playing 95% of snaps this week but is still best used as a spot start unless in deeper leagues.

Leonard Williams (DE) and Marcus Maye (S) are the other two IDP relevant players on the Jets I track every week, Williams had a serviceable game and Maye had a rare clunker. Williams recorded 4 combined tackles and 1 TFL on 68% of snaps while Maye only had 2 solo tackles playing 100% of snaps this week. Williams is still best used as a spot start unless in deeper leagues and Maye has been good most of the season when he's played but had a rare down game this week, he should be fine.

Dolphins: It was the sometimes hot safety TJ McDonald (S) who led the Dolphins this week with 9 combined tackles, 1 sack, 2 PD and 1 INT on 94% of snaps played this week, he's been spotty this year but has had enough good games to be in the tier two conversation.

Kiko Alonso (LB) was right behind him with 7 combined tackles, 2 PD and 1 INT playing 100% of snaps, he is having his best season yet and remains a weekly auto start. Reshad Jones (S) had a stinker with just 1 solo tackle on 15% of snaps and has been in a slump lately and he apparently pulled himself out of the game, no one knows why yet.

This has bad written all over it, go grab Minkah Fitzpatrick (S) if you can or pick up another safety and have a plan ready in place if this thing with Jones goes south.

Young up and comers Minkah Fitzpatrick (S, CB) and Jerome Baker (LB) both had great games this week, Fitzpatrick had 6 combined tackles on only 98% of snaps while Baker had 5 combined tackles, 1 INT and 1 TD on 82% of snaps, his snap count has been decreased as of late so this may just be a flash in the pan so buyer beware.

Davon Godchaux (DT) and Raekwon McMillan (LB) both had stinkers with Godchaux recording just 2 combined tackles on 56% of snaps while McMillan came back to earth with 2 solo tackles and 1 TFL on 55% of snaps after leading the team in production the last two weeks, I knew he sucked just had to give him a chance to prove it again. Once again the seesaw game with McMillan and Baker and their playing time is being played, avoid both to be safe.

    Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings

Lions: For the second week in a row Damon "Snacks" Harrison (DT) lit up the box score, this week recording 6 combined tackles and 1 TFL playing 67% of snaps this week, even playing with four down linemen some of the time seems to make a difference in Harrison's production, this move to the Lions seem to be a very good thing for him.

Christian Jones (LB) and Devon Kennard (LB) were next with Jones recording 6 combined tackles on 76% of snaps while Kennard put up 5 combined tackles on 100% of snaps this week. Both are just barely tier two guys that I personally wouldn't play if you had a gun to my head.

Jarrad Davis (LB) had a rare crap game with just 1 solo tackle on 100% of snaps this week, he'll be fine. A'Shawn Robinson (DT) came back to earth with just 3 solo tackles on 61% of snaps and stinks again and both safeties Glover Quinn (S) and Quandre Diggs (S) had 4 combined tackles while playing the majority of the game, they remain tier two options as well.

Ezekiel Ansah (DE) finally came back from injury and recorded 1 solo tackle, 1 sack and 1 TFL on 24% of snaps. He could be a nice tier two option at defensive end if he can stay healthy and his playing time should increase if he stays on the field.

Vikings: The Minnesota defense went nuts in this one and sacked Matt Stafford ten times. Danielle Hunter (DE) was the ring leader with 9 combined tackles, 3.5 sacks, 3 TFL and 1 TD on 70% of snaps this week. That's a monster week and puts him neck and neck with Aaron Donald (DE) for the league lead in sacks this season. He's been awesome.

Eric Kendricks (LB) didn't get a sack but had 9 combined tackles on 100% of snaps played and remains a nice tier two option. Harrison Smith (S) put in a tier one performance this week with 7 combined tackles on 100% of snaps and has been producing better lately.

Everson Griffen (DE) returned to form in just his second week back after his extended absence for mental health issues recording 4 combined tackles, 1.5 sacks and 1 TFL on 74% of snaps, he is well on his way back to being the tier one performer we all know.

Sheldon Richardson (DT) had a serviceable game with 3 combined tackles and 0.5 sacks on 69% of snaps while his counterpart Linval Joseph (DT) had a stinker with just 1 tackle assist on 63% of snaps played this week, he'll be fine though, nature of the position and all that.

Trae Waynes (CB) had a stinker with just 2 combined tackles on 91% of snaps played in an ideal matchup but should still be considered if you need corner help.

    Atlanta Falcons @ Washington Redskins

Falcons: I can honestly say I wasn't surprised to see Foye Oluokon (LB) at the top of the Falcons box score this week, it's been trending this way for a couple weeks now and between Gary (@HBogart27) and Sam (@FFStompy) we've had a couple writers with their ear to the ground predicting this for awhile now.

Oloukon finished with 6 combined tackles and 1 TFL on 74% of snaps played which isn't bad at all for a guy who isn't owned in very many leagues at all, he could be a decent spot start option in shallow leagues or playable weekly until Deion Jones (LB) comes back in deeper leagues.

DaMontae Kazee (S) had a nice game as well with 5 combined tackles, 1 PD and 1 INT on 100% of snaps this week, he's been a solid tier two guy since coming in to replace Keanu Neal (S) early in the season.

Grady Jarrett (DT) had a nice game with 3 combined tackles, 1 sack and 1 TFL on 64% of snaps which is a solid game for IDP defensive tackle. He remains a weekly start for defensive tackle. The Redskins offense was not very efficient or effective in this game so besides these particular guys there isn't much to report, there are other playable guys on this defense they just need a better matchup than this to shine.

Redskins: Not surprisingly Ha Ha Clinton Dix (S) made an immediate impact on this defense recording 7 combined tackles on 71% of snaps this week in his first game as a member of the Redskins, he should remain an end of tier one guy although his production could hurt DJ Swearinger (S) and visa versa.

Speaking of Swearinger he had no stats of any kind this week while playing 100% of snaps, that's not ideal. It could be Dix impacting his snap percentage or it could be game script but this is not a good sign for his future production when the first game Dix shows up he puts up a donut.

Both Zach Brown (LB) and Mason Foster (LB) didn't do as well as they normally do against the Falcons pass first offense, they tend to put up better numbers against teams that run the ball more effective than the Falcons do.

Brown had 3 solo tackles and 1 TFL on 78% of snaps while Foster had 5 combined tackles playing 100% of snaps this week. Foster has been borderline tier one all season so I'll keep playing him while Brown has seen reduced playing time and production this entire year and may be on his last legs.

Ryan Kerrigan (LB, EDGE) and Josh Norman (CB) are the other two guys I track on the Skins for IDP and both had solid games. Kerrigan finished with 2 solo tackles, 1 sack and 1 TFL on 76% of snaps which is great if you have a specific EDGE or OLB slot but is feast or famine and usually famine if you're playing him in a regular linebacker spot.

Norman had 6 combined tackles and 2 PD on 100% of snaps in an ideal matchup. I have no issue playing him when it's against teams like the Falcons that throw the ball a ton, besides that he's a shot in the dark.

Make sure you catch part three dropping tomorrow and keep an eye out for my start or sit article dropping Sunday morning. My bad habit of going too far into detail means this article is in multiple parts instead of one novel.

I've also won many leagues on the draft app (RIP Draft App, we miss you) and play the maximum number of free college fantasy leagues on Yahoo every year as well with 3 titles and 9 trophies in just two years of playing before Yahoo discontinued those leagues. My profile includes multiple titles in survivor and pick em leagues as well. I was a finalist in the 2021/22 IDP Guys Invitational and the best ball tournament. Also a MFL & Sleeper best ball & eliminator degenerate with many titles there as well. I just started playing All-22 this season and I would bet the mortgage I'll be good at that too. (Update, I did fine, 9-5 first season and made playoffs). What does all that mean? Nothing except when I do something I tend to overdo it. I have been at this for a long time though so I'll help you with your IDP roster and questions however I can whenever I can. I write a weekly streaming IDP corners article (Johny The Greek's Cornerbacks Corner) and whatever I feel like in the offseason. You can find me @OrangeMan3142 on Twitter.
