AJ Terrell put up a monster game in far less than ideal circumstances
The Week 12 edition of The Cornerback Corner is here! @Orangeman3142 dives into all of the secondary matchups for every game to solidify your #IDP #FFIDP lineups!
Welcome to Johny the Greek’s Cornerback Corner Week 12. Last week we streamed corner and did it well. I recommended over 60 different corner streams from 15 different Week 11 matchups. The majority of them worked out extremely well.
We sit at 73% accuracy for the season, 79% last week based on those calls matching or beating their projections (Yahoo), and will continue to track accuracy all season long just like last year. Transparency is something we take seriously here at IDPGuys.
Last week I made 63 recommendations. Of those 63, 10 were declared inactive or injured during play, 42 were correct (met or exceeded projection) and 11 were incorrect (below projection).
We don’t count acts of God here (injuries) and I specifically ask people to check for inactives before each game. So, discounting those, I was 79% correct last week for a 73% accuracy rating for the season overall.
Of those 42 correct calls last week, 16 were “massive hits” (doubled or tripled projection). That is a 38% massive hit rate.
Weekly Accuracy:
- 75% Week 1 Massive Hit: 25%
- 64% Week 2 Massive Hit: 35%
- 67% Week 3 Massive Hit: 34%
- 77% Week 4 Massive Hit: 37%
- 77% Week 5 Massive Hit: 40%
- 71% Week 6 Massive Hit: 40%
- 73% Week 7 Massive Hit: 41%
- 72% Week 8 Massive Hit: 33%
- 69% Week 9 Massive Hit 33%
- 82% Week 10 Massive Hit 35%
- 79% Week 11 Massive Hit 38%
Season accuracy to date: 73%
Season massive hit rate to date: 36%

Enough of the past, let’s look at Week 12!
Perfect Stream: This is one of the best matchups this week. I will be streaming from these matchups in my own leagues almost exclusively.
Poop stream: This is one of the worst matchups this week. I will very likely have zero corners from this matchup streaming anywhere.
Cornerback Corner Week 12
Steelers @ Bengals
Outlook: This could be a defensive struggle or we could get some fireworks, depends how much the injury grim reaper shreds the Steelers defense this week and whether or not we get last week’s edition of Big Ben or the usually crappy version, if I were a betting man I’d lean more towards a defensive struggle. Obvious guys only, deeper leagues if possible. Leave the rest.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Joe Haden (CB) Solid (If healthy)
Cameron Sutton (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
James Pierre (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues, only if Haden inactive, otherwise sit)
Arthur Maulet (CB) Avoid
Cincinnati Bengals
Chidobe Awuzie (CB) Solid
Eli Apple (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Mike Hilton (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Bucs @ Colts
Outlook: The voice from the outer worlds has blessed this matchup, Shai’ Halud will bestow his water of life upon the recently red hot Colts and the always capable of excellent passing Bucs this week. Take the maker hook of your sietch and ride like a leader of man. Fire up everyone. (Everyone that makes sense that is)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Jamel Dean (CB) Solid
Sean Murphy Bunting (CB) Solid
No significant third corner option
Indianapolis Colts
Kenny Moore (CB) Ideal/Solid
Xavier Rhodes (CB) Solid
Rock Ya Sin (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Panthers @ Dolphins
Outlook: Mediocre. Obvious guys only, deeper leagues only if possible. This doesn’t feel like an offensive explosion but I’m sure there will be some production here, with many other better places to stream from this week why screw around with this one though?
Carolina Panthers
Donte Jackson (CB) Solid
Stephon Gilmore (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
AJ Bouye (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Keith Taylor (CB) Avoid
Miami Dolphins
Xavien Howard (CB) Solid
Byron Jones (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
No trustworthy third corner option
Titans @ Patriots
Outlook: Also very mediocre, feels like a serious defensive struggle here. Only the obvious guys and deeper leagues only, could be another JC Jackson (CB) interception game though once the Pats force the Titans into a negative gamescript and Tannehill is forced to abandon the run game.
Tennessee Titans
Kristian Fulton (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Janoris Jenkins (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Chris Jackson (CB) Avoid (Playing time)
Elijah Molden (CB) Avoid (Playing time)
New England Patriots
JC Jackson (CB) Solid
Jalen Mills (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Myles Bryant (CB) Avoid
Eagles @ Giants
Outlook: More of the same, mediocre, uninspired, less than ideal. We can’t even really lean on our excellent Giants options with the Eagles running the ball (not even kidding) 50 times last week and a metric shitload in recent history. Obvious guys only, deeper leagues if possible.
Philadelphia Eagles
Steven Nelson (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Darius Slay (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Avonte Maddox (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
New York Giants
James Bradberry (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Logan Ryan (CB/S) Solid
Adoree Jackson (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Darnay Holmes (CB) Avoid
Falcons @ Jaguars
Outlook: This could be a bit of a surprise offensive fireworks show since both defenses are hot garbage, we can fire up the good options here in medium to deeper leagues and probably get what we need out of them in most places. Not bad but also not perfect either, better than mediocre though.
Atlanta Falcons
Fabian Moreau (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
AJ Terrell (CB) Solid
No significant third CB option
Jacksonville Jaguars
Tyson Campbell (CB) Solid
Shaq Griffin (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Nevin Lawson (CB) Avoid
Jets @ Texans
Outlook: This also has an opportunity, much like the Falcons and Jags, to give us a ton of points simply because neither defense is any good at all. We’ll start the usual suspects and see what happens.
New York Jets
Bryce Hall (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Isaiah Dunn (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues, risky, we’ve only seen it once)
Michael Carter (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Houston Texans
Desmond King (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Terrence Mitchell (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Tavierre Thomas (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Chargers @ Broncos
Outlook: We can fire up our Broncos options with extreme confidence this week against that excellent Chargers passing attack and offense overall, as for the reverse we’ll likely be skipping our Chargers options this week with Bridgewater and company in the building. The Broncos haven’t had a passing attack since Peyton Manning (QB) was part of this team unfortunately.
Los Angeles Chargers
Michael Davis (CB) Avoid
Chris Harris Jr (CB) Avoid
Asante Samuel Jr (CB) Avoid
Denver Broncos
Patrick Surtain (CB) Solid
Ronald Darby (CB) Solid
Kyle Fuller (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues only, risky)
Rams @ Packers
Outlook: This matchup will kill until no Harkonen breathes Arakeen air, long live the fighters! Perfect stream, Aaron Rodgers (QB) toe could throw a monkey wrench in this but I think he sucks it up and plays and we know Davante Adams (WR) and company are going to be showered with targets as the Packers try and keep up with a pissed off Rams team coming off some embarrassing losses recently.
Los Angeles Rams
Jalen Ramsey (CB) Solid
Darious Williams (CB) Solid
No significant third CB option
Green Bay Packers
Eric Stokes (CB) Solid
Rasul Douglas (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Chandon Sullivan (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Vikings @ 49ers
Outlook: This actually could end up being a decent shootout, however the possibility of a defensive struggle is present enough for me to call this what it really is, OK not great. Start the obvious guys, deeper leagues only if you can, and we’ll see what happens.
Minnesota Vikings
Bashaud Breeland (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Patrick Peterson (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Mackenzie Alexander (CB) Avoid
San Francisco 49ers
Josh Norman (CB) Solid
Emmanuel Moseley (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
K’Wuan Williams (CB) Avoid
Browns @ Ravens
Outlook: Between Lamar Jackson (QB) and his bubble guts and Baker Mayfield (QB) and his noodle arm we’ve got a pair of quarterbacks that don’t do a ton of actual passing these days. Neither passing attack is ranked well at all, both quarterbacks are banged up or have been recently, both wide receiver corps are shredded with injury or lost one of their main weapons to diva drama plus both defenses are more than capable of turning this into a serious black and blue struggle. Not a great recipe for streaming CB production, we’ll pass on it except for the excellent options (Ward, Humphrey) and will say deeper leagues only for those guys. Poopy matchup overall.
Cleveland Browns
Denzel Ward (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Greg Newsome (CB) Avoid
Troy Hill (CB) Avoid
Greedy Williams (CB) Avoid
Baltimore Ravens
Marlon Humphrey (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Anthony Averett (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues, if healthy)
Chris Westry (CB) Avoid, only played due to Averett injury
Tavon Young (CB) Avoid (Playing time)
Seahawks @ Football Team
Outlook: We could see some fireworks here since the Seahawks defense is basically Swiss cheese, that could allow the Football Team to complete some passes and as for the reverse what was once the best pass rush in the league is now down two of it’s best options and is a shell of itself. That could even the score a bit and maybe allow Russ to cook something besides a microwave dinner.
Seattle Seahawks
DJ Reed (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Sydney Jones (CB) Avoid (Fluctuation)
Bless Austin (CB) Avoid (Fluctuation)
Tre Brown (CB) Avoid (Fluctuation)
Washington Football Team
Kendall Fuller (CB) Solid
Bobby McCain (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
William Jackson (CB) Solid (Deeper leagues)
Closing thoughts
Remember to check inactives before kickoff to avoid any surprise zeroes! The information here is usually only accurate up until Thursday evening each week, then it gets published and I won’t be editing and updating with any injury news that occurs after that point, it’s your responsibility to track injuries for your own team. Good luck this week!
