We’re now halfway into the college football season and Week 6 is now in the books. Maybe you’re looking for upgrades for your fantasy rosters. Or maybe, now that bye weeks are hitting heavy, you need some help filling them? I’m here to help you diversify your fantasy portfolios and get the maximum return on your investments with the IDP Devy Stock Market report!

    JJ Russell, LB, Memphis

The super senior is off to a blazing start to the season. Through six games played so far this season, he has recorded 66 tackles, 44 solos, 3.5 TFLs, and 1 forced fumble. Russell’s 66 tackles lead the American Athletic Conference and his 44 solo stops lead the nation. All of these tackle numbers are career highs for Russell and Memphis still has six games plus the postseason to play.

Russell is one of the top tacklers in the country and has three games with at least ten plus tackles. All three of these games came in consecutive weeks. 14 versus Mississippi State, 18 versus UTSA, and 14 against Temple on the road. Coming into this season his previous career-best was nine, which he had done a couple of times. Russell is averaging 11 tackles per game, which is exactly what you want from your linebackers on your fantasy teams.

Russell is currently rostered in only 70% of Fantrax leagues, which is up a whopping 35.2% from last week. Maybe you get lucky and he’ll be available in your leagues. For me, Russell is only an IDP devy investment option as I’m just not sure what his NFL potential looks like at this time. In IDP devy, Russell is producing high returns for fantasy managers and is a player that can help you win a championship.

    Tristan Nichols, DT, Nevada

Tristan Nichols is listed as a defensive tackle by the Nevada Wolfpack. It’s not often we invest in defensive tackle for IDP portfolios. However, Nichols is having enough success for fantasy managers to make a low-risk investment for a potentially high return. Nichols has only played in three games this season due to some nagging injuries. Though when healthy and on the field, he’s produced a high return.

Despite playing limitations, he has recorded five sacks in those contests. All five came in the last two games, where he had three versus Idaho State and two against Boise State on the road. Russell ranks eighth in the country with his five sacks. He also has 9 tackles, with 8 being solos, and 2 forced fumbles on the season.

I mentioned he was listed as a defensive tackle, but he has been playing some defensive end. Because of that, I feel he’ll end up at DE due to his size (6’4”/235 lbs). On Fantrax he is listed as DT/DL eligible but with him playing some at defensive end, it makes him a cheat code of sorts. Just like with Russell above, I don’t see Nichols being an impact player in the NFL. However, he is a great low-risk option that you can invest in and is widely available, as he’s rostered in just 9% of Fantrax leagues.

    Jaylan Foster, S, South Carolina

Jaylan Foster is having a breakout year and has already broken a lot of his personal best numbers. Those include tackles (52), solo tackles (36), TFL’s (3), sacks (2), INTs (4), and forced fumbles (2). Foster leads the nation in interceptions, leads the SEC in forced fumbles, and is third in the conference in tackles.

Foster has come a long way from his beginnings at Gardner-Webb. He transferred to South Carolina where he was a practice squad player. And now he is becoming one of the best safeties in the country. Foster has been on fire the last three games, where he has recorded 12 or more tackles. In those three games, he has produced a total of 37 tackles, 27 being solo, 3 TFLs, 2 sacks, 1 INT, and 2 forced fumbles. Foster clearly stands out as one of their best defenders on the field.

He is shockingly owned in just 17% of Fantrax leagues and I personally put in claims for him this week in a few of my leagues. Foster and the Gamecocks have a great matchup this week versus a poor Vanderbilt offense. So he should have another great game. He is a must-add investment for your IDP devy portfolios and a terrific start for the rest of the season. Go add him to your rosters now.
