    WEEK 5

    THURSDAY, OCT 4, 2018

Darius Leonard returned to practice on Wednesday after missing the first two days this week with an ankle injury. He’s listed as questionable for Thursday night, but will likely suit up and give it a go. DT Hassan Ridgeway, cornerbacks Quincy Wilson and Kenny Moore are already listed as out for this week. The Patriots are a bit healthier on defense with Danny Shelton and Eric Rowe both putting up limited practices on Wednesday and will be questionable heading into Thursday night's game.

Offense: Andrews Luck could be in for a long night on Thursday. The Colts offense is limping in the game missing top passing options in TY Hilton and Jack Doyle. Joining them on the sidelines will be Marlon Mack for yet another game. Eric Ebron turned in his first full week of practice in a long time but that’s not much of a consolation prize for this ailing offense. The Patriots top option Rob Gronkowski looks to be a game-time decision along with Josh Gordon. Both have put in limited practices this week and their availability will be questionable due to the short turnaround.

    SUNDAY, OCT 7, 2018

The Dolphins got back Reshad Jones this week as he was completely removed from the injury report after missing two weeks with a shoulder injury. Cameron Wake and Andre Branch missed practice on Wednesday with knee issues. Their absence further complicates things at defensive line for the Dolphins. Joining them was Bobby McCain who is also dealing with a knee ailment. All three have been listed as questionable for Sunday.

Linebacker Vontaze Burfict is back after a four-game suspension and will step right back into a pivotal role on defense. Michael Johnson and Preston Brown were limited on Wednesday. Brown is likely to go as he’s only dealing with a minor shoulder injury. Johnson is a bigger question mark as he’s been dealing with knee issues for a few weeks now.

Offense: Joe Mixon was back to practice after missing the past two games. Giovani Bernard was held out of practice on Wednesday dealing with lower body ailments. Both will need to be monitored closely until Sunday. Both could potentially miss Sunday, leaving a massive hole in the backfield for the Bengals. The Dolphins avoided the injury report on offense. They are going to have to find out other reasons as to what led them to such a miserable outing last week.

    Atlanta at Pittsburgh 1:00 pm

Grady Jarrett is expected to play this Sunday after missing practice on Wednesday. Atlanta can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to the health of their defense so the optimism for Jarrett is a relief. The Steelers are still limiting Morgan Burnett in practice as he continues to deal with a groin injury. He’s been plagued with this for most of the season and was out last week. He is expected to return this week. The bigger question is how much will he play. Vince Williams was held out of practice on Wednesday. His outlook is a bit better and will likely play on Sunday.

Offense: A long list of Falcons were absent from practice in some capacity. Julio Jones, Tevin Coleman, and Devonta Freeman are the big names on that list. Freeman returned to practice this week and is heading in the right direction to play. Coleman and Jones were kept out for rest and a bit of routine treatment for bumps and bruises. They will both be a go on game day. Darrius Heyward-Bey was absent and the lone Steeler on offense to be listed. He is dealing with ankle soreness but should be ready to go by Sunday.

The Ravens were without Brandon Carr (knee), Anthony Averett (hamstring), and Anthony Levine (hamstring) in practice on Wednesday. The fear of missing either on Sunday is slightly minimized by Jimmy Smith returning from suspension. The only Browns defender listed on the injury report is Damarious Randall who was missing from practice on Wednesday with an injury to his heel. He is listed as questionable heading into Sunday.

Offense: Alex Collins was limited in practice with a knee injury. He will likely be ready to play on Sunday. The Browns are a bit more banged up with Jarvis Landry and Antonio Calloway missing Wednesday with knee issues. Landry is less likely to be hampered by the injury as he has been playing through this issue for a few weeks now. Calloway might potentially see a reduction in snaps as a precautionary measure if his knee hasn’t improved by Sunday.

Denver at N.Y. Jets 1:00 pm

Broncos linebacker Todd Davis was absent from practice dealing with shoulder issues while Von Miller posted a limited practice. There is no immediate concern for either and most believe neither are in jeopardy to miss this week. The Jets had one defensive player listed on their injury report. Marcus Maye is still dealing with foot and ankle issues. These issues have been lingering but shouldn’t hamper expectations in his availability.

Offense: Both teams offenses were clear of the injury report.

Defensive end Ezekiel Ansah was limited in practice with a shoulder injury. This has been known and is not as much of a surprise. He’ll likely play through the injury. Ansah was joined by three Lions defensive backs (Quandre Diggs, Tavon Wilson, and Trey walker) on the sidelines. All three are listed as questionable heading into Sunday.

Offense: the whole Packers offense has been ravaged by injuries. The majority of the second team offense was taking first-team reps this week in practice. Aaron Rodgers, Jimmy Graham, Davante Adams, Randall Cobb, and Geronimo Allison were all absent from practice. Rodgers, Adams, and Graham have optimistic outlooks for Sunday. The two other wide receivers, on the other hand, are less likely to play this week. The Lions rookie RB Kerryon Johnson will likely be shouldering a larger workload this week with LeGarrette Blount missing practice with an illness.

Jacksonville at Kansas City 1:00 pm

D.J. Hayden had already been announced as being out for this week. He’s dealing with a toe injury. Calais Campbell was limited in practice on Wednesday with an ankle injury and will head into Sunday with a questionable designation. Eric Berry did not practice on Wednesday as he continues to deal with a heel injury. It looks as if he is still weeks away from a return. The Chiefs are still looking for someone to step up in his absence to help a reeling secondary.

Offense: The Jaguars are heading into this game without Leonard Fournette who is still on the mend with hamstring issues. Fournette was joined on the DNP list was T.J. Yeldon and Austin Seferian-Jenkins. Along with two starting linemen absent from practice (Brandon Linder and Andrew Norwell) on Wednesday and another being limited(Jermey Parnell). This could pose a problem Sunday if any or all are a no go.

The chiefs Sammy Watkins continues to deal with an injury sustained last week. As the week progresses his status for this week is becoming increasingly cloudy.

N.Y. Giants at Carolina 1:00 pm

DT Damon Harrison missed practice while dealing with a nagging knee injury. Olivier Vernon was back to practice in a limited capacity and will look to make his season debut this week. The Panthers team as a whole dodged the injury report this week and will head into week 5 healthy. Thomas Davis will be returning from his four-game suspension this week.

Offense: Both teams are relatively healthy with only Greg Olsen showing up on the Panthers injury report. Although his issue has been a known issue for a while now, videos of Olsen running showed up on twitter. This is a great sign since he broke his foot less than a month ago. Sterling Shepherd was absent from practice due to having a cyst removed from his back. He will be ready to go this Sunday.

    Tennessee at Buffalo 1:00 pm

Linebacker Wesley Woodyard hasn’t practiced since his shoulder injury in Week 4. He is heading into Sunday as questionable, but many believe he will not play. Kenny Vaccaro has already been designated as Out for Week 5 with an elbow injury. The Bills Micha Hyde looks likely to be out for Week 5 after suffering a groin injury last week. Shaq Lawson maintains his residency on the injury report turning in two limited practices this week. He’ll likely play through his hamstring injury.

Offense: Both teams offenses look relatively healthy this week. Corey Davis was limited in practice with an undisclosed illness, it’s likely that he will be good to go and should find his way off the injury report in the next few days. Charles Clay was limited at the Bills practice on Wednesday dealing with ankle issues. He is trending in the right direction to play this week though and will likely be utilized similarly to how he been used the past 4 weeks.

Oakland at L.A. Chargers 4:05 pm

The Raiders and Chargers are relatively healthy heading into this week. In the Chargers case, the lack of travel has helped them heal up. They are still without Joey Bosa and counting the days for his return. As I’d imagine the majority of IDP owners are doing the same.

Arizona at San Francisco 4:25 pm

The Cardinals are quite banged up with Markus Golden and Bene Benwikere missing practice and Josh Bynes was limited. All are questionable heading into this Sunday. Bynes is on the right track to play while the two DNP's are less likely. All three are considered questionable.

The 49ers defense is coming into this week healthy for the first time in a couple weeks. Richard Sherman was the only player listed with a calf issue but should be ready to go by Sunday. It looks as if their injury woes in the secondary are worked out. Hopefully, their production can improve also.

Offense: Larry Fitzgerald missed practice as he continues to deal with hamstring and back injuries. The 49ers are in trouble at offensive line with three starters all missing practice. Joining them are receivers Marquise Goodwin and Dante Pettis, along with Matt Breida. All should be monitored this week as the 49ers have only had one practice so far this week.

KJ Wright is on pace to miss yet another game. This is a frustrating situation that I would compare to Joey Bosa. Patience is key with these issues but will likely pay off when they return. Rasheem Green and Frank Clark were also absent from practice. They have a drastically more optimistic outlook and should both be ready to go Sunday. Mark Barron was also limited Wednesday. He is eyeing a much anticipated season debut this Sunday.

Offense: Chris Carson was the only player on either offense to miss practice time this week. He will likely be getting rest this week as Mike Davis has stepped up in Carson’s absence or due to inadequacy running the ball.

    Minnesota at Philadelphia 4:25 pm

Trae Waynes misses practice with a concussion and his availability will be dictated by how he progresses through the concussion protocol. Linval Joseph was also out Wednesday dealing with a shoulder issue. He is questionable as of now. Eagles Defensive end Derek Barnett and Defensive Tackle Fletcher Cox were absent from practice with minor injuries. Both should be regarded as rest rather than an injury concern. They are both listed a questionable.

Offense: Dalvin Cook misses practice following his return in Week 4. Latavius Murray would get the start if Cook cannot go. The Eagles are not without their injury woes at running back. Corey Clement and Darren Sproles remain out of practice and are both in jeopardy to miss Sunday. Jay Ajayi and Alshon Jeffery were also absent from practice. Jeffery will likely be ready to go Sunday while dealing with lingering injuries.

    Dallas at Houston 8:20 pm

The Cowboys resident of the injury report Sean Lee missed practice again. I know it is a shock to us all. Let us hope the increased snaps for Leighton Vander Esch can lead to some well-needed production if Lee is not able to go on Sunday. Demarcus Lawrence was limited in practice with a shoulder injury but will likely be playing this Sunday. The Texans were without their dominant defensive linemen JJ Watt and edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney. They are both dealing with a lower-body injury, but neither are in jeopardy of missing anytime as of now.

Offense: DeAndre Hopkins missed practice with a list of ailments including a thumb, ankle, and hamstring issues. He’ll likely play through the injuries. Will Fuller and rookie Keke Coutee were also absent from the Texans first practice of the week. All will likely find themselves off the injury report by the end of the week. The Cowboys were without only wide receiver Cole Beasley on Wednesday with an ankle issue. Like the Texans receivers, he will most likely be ready by Sunday.
