Top Three QB2s to Target In Dynasty SuperFlex

Some people draft both their QB1 and QB2 in the first few rounds while some wait to grab their QB2 until the later rounds. Who are the best dynasty QB2s?

In a dynasty superflex league where quarterbacks are scarce and go rather quickly, QB2s are very valuable. There are a handful of qualified quarterbacks, but here are three QB2s that have QB1 upside and are great picks in startups.

3. Tua Tagovailoa

Tagovailoa has one of the three worst offensive lines in football. In the 12 games he started, Tagovailoa went 7-5 with over 2,600 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Yes, his interception to touchdown ratio is not that great, but when Tagovailoa is fighting for his life every play, stats that like show hope. He also posted the seventh-best completion percentage this season.

Drafting Jaylen Waddle proved to be a big brain move as he finished as the WR13 this season. The connection Waddle and Tagovailoa shared at Alabama has only gotten stronger. With new hire at the head coach position, former offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers, Mike McDaniel, the future looks extremely bright for Tagovailoa to be one of the top dynasty QB2s with high upside.

2. Kirk “YOU LIKE THAT” Cousins

Kirk Cousins is quite possibly the most underrated quarterback in the NFL. From a fantasy perspective, he has played better than 20 other guys on a consistent basis. This past NFL season, Cousins finished as the QB11. That is QB1 status, but he is the QB20 on the Sleeper app in mock drafts.

With rumors of him leaving the Vikings, Cousins is a perfect dynasty QB2 at age 33, coming off one of his best seasons ever! He had 33 touchdowns and just seven interceptions, with the fourth-highest QB rating this season.

A landing spot on a team like the Steelers or even staying in Minnesota with rumors of Aaron Rodgers possibly leaving, the Vikings can finally once again claim the NFC North. As a veteran with a viable fantasy QB1 status, Cousins is one of the best of the dynasty QB2s to draft.

1. Derek Carr‘s Last Chance

Carr has been with the Las Vegas Raiders — formerly of Oakland — for eight seasons now. In those eight seasons, there are only two playoff appearances for the Raiders. During the first one in 2016, Carr broke his ankle in Week 16 and was not able to play. This past season, the Raiders lost to the AFC Champion Bengals in the Wild Card round.

Just like Kirk Cousins, Carr is underrated. He is not a QB1, but the upside is there. Since entering the league, Carr has had the fourth-most passing yards. Being behind three Hall of Fame quarterbacks in Matt Ryan, Tom Brady and Matthew Stafford doesn’t sound so bad either.

With a new head coach and offensive guru in Josh McDaniels, Carr gets the guy who was a part of the Patriots dynasty. McDaniels failed once as the Broncos head coach, but a fresh start in Sin City sounds fantastic.

Carr took the Raiders to a playoff berth and is responsible for the only two playoff births since 2002. All the hate Carr receives and the fact that he finished as the QB13 this season, make him the “best” QB2 this season.
