Sports Betting Matchups To Target For Week 1.

With the start of the NFL season less than three weeks away, fans all around the world are itching with excitement. Another group of people that are looking forward to kickoff is sports betters. Also, for those who are new to sports betting, take a look at the top sports betting apps  In this article, i'm going to suggest a couple of games sports bettors should be targeting. The spreads below are per ESPN.

Houston Texans vs Kansas City Chiefs (-10)

Here's why I like Kansas City: The defending Super Bowl Champions come into 2020 with a defensive unit that ranks 7th via NFL. In addition to a top 10 defense, they also have a top 10 offense. In 2019, the Chiefs finished with the 6th best scoring offense. As for their opponent, the Houston Texans will have an entirely new identity. They traded star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to Arizona for running back David Johnson and swapped draft picks. According to ESPN's Football Power Index the Texans are projected to finish 24th out of 32 teams. It wouldn't surprise me if this line goes a bit higher than -10 before kickoff.

Los Angeles Chargers (-3) vs Cincinnati Bengals

Here's why I like the Los Angeles Chargers: This will be a match up of two teams that will feature new starting quarterbacks, in 2020. Tyrod Taylor will be the starter for the Chargers and Joe Burrow will be under center for the Bengals. Even though the Chargers no longer have former running back, Melvin Gordon they still have a very strong defensive unit. NFL.com is projecting this unit as the top defense going into this season. As for their opponent, the Cincinnati Bengals will be going through a rebuild process on offense. As for their defense, ESPN's Football Power Index has them projected to finish 30th, just ahead of Washington and Jacksonville. When you have a top tier defense going against a rookie quarterback, that had no preseason games, you should be all over this one. This is a line that I do expect to swing more in the Chargers favor before kickoff.

    Conclusion

While there are a lot a great betting matchups to target, in week 1, these are the two that I like to exceed the original spreads. With having no preseason games due to Covid-19 it makes sense for betters to place their bets on the Super Bowl Champion Chiefs and a top tier defensive unit in the Chargers going up against a rookie quarterback. Please remember to bet responsibly and enjoy the NFL games.
