Wil is back to go through his Week 3 Betting Lines for Thursday Night Football!

Carolina Panthers (-7.5) at Houston Texans (O/U 43)

The Carolina Panthers come into this game as one of the few undefeated teams facing a Texans team led by rookie QB, David Mills. Coming off a short week, it may be mayhem in Houston.

It seems that all Sam Darnold needed was a change in scenery. He looks like a completely different player from the one we saw in New York the last few years. Darnold has thrown three TDs with only one interception this season, and if no one is surprised, well, I am! The defense looks great out there, giving up 21 total points in two games.

They were able to lock down quarterback Jameis Winston last week, limiting him to 111 passing yards and two interceptions. Rookie quarterback Davis Mills comes into this game as the starter after Tyrod Taylor left the game in Week 2 and was placed on IR. After witnessing what Carolina’s defense was able to do against the Saints, I don’t see the Texans doing any better.

With all the drama entering this season, I had the Texans picking in the top 5 in next year’s draft. After watching them play the first two weeks, I have them picking number one overall. It seems like it’s a race to the bottom between them and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Can rookie David Mills get the job done at home against a new-look defense in Carolina? I think not!

    Conclusion

With the total set at 43 for the game, which happens to be one of the lowest for Week 3, I’m not too fond of the Texans’ chances to keep it close. Carolina’s defense will be able to feast on David Mills, forcing him into turning the ball over and causing several three-and-outs.

Now for the Panthers, they’re in a great spot. I’m looking for Sam Darnold to continue to thrive in this offense and for CMC to have a breakout game. The Panthers are favored by -7.5 points looks just about right for me and I think they’ll come out, putting up some points from the beginning.

    Carolina -7.5
