• Chicago Bears 2022 Fantasy Football + IDP Depth Chart Dive

With a new coaching and front office regime, the Chicago Bears are rebuilding again. The attractive fantasy football options are few and far between. However, there are a few diamonds in the rough to uncover here, so let's take a look!

    Offense

    Quarterback

    Justin Fields

Fields is an EXCELLENT prospect who has been dealt a terrible hand both as a rookie and I think also heading into year 2. In redraft, he likely will have a pretty decent QB2 floor with his rushing ability but with the poor O-line and towards the bottom of the league pass-catching unit it's hard to think Fields gets anywhere near his talent ceiling. Dynasty, I already have a  good amount of shares but will be looking to acquire more especially if the year starts out rough and I can catch an owner panicking. The new front office has cleared out a lot this year and I expect some major splashes coming in next year putting Fields in a quick turnaround situation like Tua Tagovailoa this year. @DynastyBison 8/18/22

    Trevor Siemian
    Nathan Peterman

    Running Back

    David Montgomery
    Khalil Herbert
    Darrynton Evans
    Trestan Ebner

    Wide Receiver

    Darnell Mooney

In redraft, I absolutely adore Mooney, locked and loaded 140+ targets on tap and available in the 6th round and later? SMASH!!!! In dynasty I am torn, I do think Mooney is good but I have seen him go for a '23 first and at that value, I am likely to sell. Thinking he turns more into a Lockett sort of player which has value but I am always chasing after the more prototype "alphas" to build my rosters around. @DynastyBison 8/18/22

    Byron Pringle

Don't hate throwing a bottom of roster spot in either dynasty or redraft on Pringle. Quietly put up 42-568-5 last year in the shadows of Hill/Kelce, now with only Mooney locked in ahead of him on the depth chart he has the opportunity to claim the WR2 role which may have some flex appeal on tight weeks or in deep leagues. @DynastyBison 8/18/22

    N'Keal Harry
    Velus Jones
    Equanimeous St. Brown
    David Moore
    Dante Pettis
    Tajae Sharpe
    Isaiah Coulter
    Dazz Newsome

    Tight End

    Cole Kmet

Kmet is probably my favorite later-round tight end target for 2022. With Jimmy Graham gone, only Mooney truly ahead of him in the pecking order, and a quiet 93 target season under his belt in '21 Kmet stands to have a breakout season. There is a real path to being the #2 option in this offense, the go-to guy in the redzone, and clearing the ~100 target threshold needed to really be a difference maker at the position. Finding Kmet available in the 8th-10th rounds is always shocking to me and I love nabbing him as my TE1 when I pass on the elite options early..

    James O'Shaughnessy
    Ryan Griffin

    Defense

    Defensive Tackle

    Justin Jones
    Mike Pennel
    Trevon Coley
    Khyiris Tonga

    Defensive End/EDGE

    Mario Edwards
    Al-Quadin Muhammad
    Robert Quinn
    Mario Edwards
    Trevis Gipson

    Linebacker

    Roquan Smith
    Nicholas Morrow

Even without the Roquan Smith drama, Morrow was a top sleeper heading into 2022, He had a breakout season with the Raiders in 2020 and lost all of 2021 to injury. Morrow could be in line for a massive season and could be an incredible return on investment in IDP leagues. He's been free and even still can be had incredibly late. I want to roster him everywhere this year. DynastySanta 8/17

    Matthew Adams
    Joe Thomas
    Caleb Johnson
    Jack Sanborn

The UDFA rookie from Wisconsin had a strong showing in Week 1 of the preseason. With a ton of question marks surrounding Roquan Smith's contract and availability this season, keep an eye on Sanborn. Those Wisconsin boys make for sleeper LBs and this depth chart is wide open. DynastySanta 8/17

    Cornerback

    Jaylon Johnson
    Kyler Gordon
    Tavon Young
    Kindle Vildor
    Dane Cruikshank

    Safety

    Eddie Jackson
    Jaquan Brisker

Brisker is in line to make an immediate impact for the Bears at safety. He is rookie DB2 behind Kyle Hamilton and for now, flying under the radar. DynastySanta 8/17

    Steve Tomasin (@DynastySanta)

After being introduced to fantasy football in 1999 as a wee lad still in middle school, I was hooked. I then began commishing my own keeper league 2 years later as a sophomore in high school, which has been running since. I used a computer program that required me to manually input weekly stats and had to print out summary packets each week to deliver to league owners at the bowling alley. I loved it. Stats and numbers and the competitiveness of being "right" about players was just an incredible high that not many other activities or hobbies have ever provided me. Around 2005 we migrated to the CBS sports site. I found a new love then, writing about our league. Each year after the draft I would "grade" each owner's team. It became almost as anticipated as the draft itself. Also, most weeks I'd recap the league's games and criticize start/sits while boasting my own accolades as long as I won that week. Dynasty, IDP & Superflex are the next evolutions in my fantasy football journey. I'm a Philly suburbs guy, GO BIRDS. Follow me on Twitter @dynastysanta
