    The future?

Welcome to "The Monster", now in audio format!

    The Full Monster

New for Week 12, scroll down the article and get every matchup as an audio clip between 10 - 15 minutes long. We understand some miss the old written out Monster, and we hear you... Get just the matchup you want in smaller bites pulled from the podcast.

This week we'll be doing what we do every week, looking at everything that matters with every single IDP relevant player on every single defense, every week all season, and never behind a paywall. Now available before waivers run.

We'll look at playing time, production, injuries and waivers because of them, changes in role or demotion (Daniel Sorensen, Jaylon Smith, etc) and we'll follow the ebbs and flows of the season in an effort to make sure you have the best IDP producers starting for your defense every week and don't miss any crucial information.

If things didn’t go how we thought they would we’ll try and figure out why that was, if someone we’ve never heard of went off for a massive week we’ll find out if they’re worth picking up on waivers or if they’re just barely playing and just lucked into a sack or splash play and it likely won’t happen again any time soon. We’ll follow up on weird or iffy situations with information from beat writers and whatever else I can find to connect the dots.

We'll also use information from sources such as PFF, NFLGSIS, Pro Football Reference, and from other smart people in the IDP community as well. If I can't get the answer I'll go find it. This is the one place you can come every single week and learn everything you could possibly need to know in regards to all things FFIDP and by the end of the audio, you'll know what you need to in order to make the best decisions for the upcoming matchups.

Between this article & audio, @Mike_Woellert and his three-down linebacker article, listening to The IDP Show podcast and the various information published weekly from our site (idpguys.org) and other excellent FFIDP sources out there (Gary Davenport, Gary Van Dyke, Justin Varnes, Jon Macri, The IDP Show, 4 for 4 IDP, etc) you should be completely locked in for your individual defensive players across the board.

If you're short on time though my mission with this content is to get "all of it in one place" so this is a good start. Remember the "why" is just as important as "what" so with all that in mind let's get into it.

The Week 12 Questions and Answers

(The complete audio is above, and is also available on the IDP Guys podcast feed.)

    Thanksgiving Lineup

    Bears vs Lions
    The Questions

The Lions and Bears led the way in a low-scoring affair that did more harm than good overall. We got injuries to Jalen Reeves Maybin (LB) and DeAndre Swift (RB) for the Lions and also Roquan Smith (LB) on the Bears. We'll see what there is for news on all those fronts and find out if there are any waiver moves to be made as a result of those events.

    Raiders vs Cowboys
    The Questions

The spiraling Cowboys losing in overtime to the Raiders. We got another look at Micah Parsons (LB) as an edge defender and some news on the timetable for return for DeMarcus Lawrence (DE) and Randy Gregory (DE) so any movement from those injuries could be short-lived.

Over on the Raiders, we got a quiet week from Maxx Crosby (DE) so we'll see what there is to see with that as well and give this entire matchup a once over.

    Bills vs Saints
    The Questions

And finally, we got the Bills getting things back on track against the Saints. For the Bills, the huge news was Tre'Davious White (CB) tearing his ACL and being done for the season, we'll follow up on that definitely.

We also got Tremaine Edmunds (LB) back for the first time in a couple of weeks and a bounce-back game from DeMario Davis (LB) plus we'll see what news there is about the Marcus Davenport (DE) inactive for this weeks game, plenty of relevant information to be had from this one, most of it bad, unfortunately.

    Sunday Early Lineup

    Steelers vs Bengals
    The Questions

For the Steelers were we able to get Minkah Fitzpatrick (S) and TJ Watt (EDGE) back from Covid IR and injury respectively?

And for the Bengals, most things are pretty set in stone but we'll see what there is to see, without the injury grim reaper involved these two defenses are among the most stable in the league but we'll see what toll was taken this week and find any waivers if so.

    Buccaneers vs Colts
    The Questions

On the Buccaneers, we got Sean Murphy Bunting (CB) back from injury last week and along with Jamel Dean (CB) and the return of Lavonte David (LB) their defense is looking like its old self for the first time in a long time, we'll see how that all went against the red hot Colts.

As for Indy will it be another week of Darius Leonard (LB) as the second-best ILB option with Bobby Okereke (LB) leading all producers in the box score and how are the two waiver wire safeties doing, George Odum (S) and Andrew Sendejo (S)? We shall see.

    Panthers vs Dolphins
    The Questions

The Panthers faced off with the Dolphins in Miami. On Carolina we finally got Shaq Thompson (LB) back up to almost his usual playing time last week, we'll see if that was maintained over even improved upon this week and will see if the Jeremy Chinn (S) hot streak continued as well.

For the Dolphins this defense is always in flux but we'll check the usual suspects and see what happened as is tradition.

    Titans vs Patriots
    The Questions

In Foxboro, it was the Pats and Titans. For the Patriots was the Kyle Van Noy (LB) explosion last week a one-off or the start of a new trend? Did they let Kyle Dugger (S) play more than like 75% of snaps and was JC Jackson (CB) able to land yet another pick?

As for the Titans, we were without David Long (LB) and Rashaan Evans (LB) so that must have meant Jayon Brown (LB) and Monty Rice (LB) but we'll confirm that and also check in on the other notable names here like we always do.

    Eagles vs Giants
    The Questions

In the Big Apple, it was the Eagles and Giants. For the Eagles, we lost Davion Taylor (LB) for a few games last week and that brought Alex Singleton (LB) back into our lives, how did he do in this one, and was TJ Edwards (LB) able to maintain his excellent playing time and production we've seen the last few weeks?

On the Giants, we'll check in on the usual suspects and hope that Logan Ryan (S/CB) was able to return from Covid IR that made him a last-minute inactive last week but beyond that most things are set in stone here.

    Falcons vs Jaguars
    The Questions

Back down in Florida, we got the Jags and Falcons. No real issues we've been tracking for the Jags, we saw a few Andre Cisco (S) snaps last week but due to the blowout who knows if they were real or not, beyond that we'll see how badly the injury grim reaper is and take it from there.

On the Falcons we're really just looking for a bounce-back game from Deion Jones (LB) and most will be happy, beyond that not a ton to see here.

    Jets vs Texans
    The Questions

In Houston, it was the Texans and Jets. Not a ton going on here either for the Texans, we'll see if Jonathan Greenard (DE) was able to return to action this week and that's about it until Christian Kirksey (CB) comes back from injury, that will be the next shakeup around these parts.

For the Jets, though, we'll absolutely want to confirm that Quincy Williams (LB) is indeed back in the fold and we'll also see if we can identify who's going to be that second starting safety here since we've seen nothing but fluctuation with that the last couple weeks.

    Sunday Afternoon Lineup

    Chargers vs Broncos
    The Questions

At Mile-High, it was the Broncos and Chargers. On the Broncos we should be getting Baron Browning (LB) back this week so we'll want to check and confirm he resumed his normal role and playing time plus we'll check and see if Jonathan Cooper (OLB) is a thing or not.

For the Chargers, we've pretty much shoveled dirt on Kenneth Murray (LB) for IDP purposes but we'll check in on the Chargers inside linebacker situation and see what that looked like this week and that's the biggest thing here by far.

    Rams vs Packers
    The Questions

On the frozen tundra, it was the Rams and Packers. For the Rams, the Ernest Jones (LB) or Troy Reeder (LB) debate continues and this will give us another opportunity to try and figure that out.

As for the Packers, beyond some slight injury concerns, there is not a ton going on, to be honest. We'll give it a once over and see if there's been any movement or new waivers as usual.

    Vikings vs 49ers
    The Questions

Back in San Francisco, we got the Niners and Vikings. For San Francisco, did we finally get Dre Greenlaw (LB) back this week, and if so what was the breakdown for snaps between him and Azeez Al Shaair (LB)?

Beyond that, we're really just looking at how Patrick Peterson (CB) did in his second game back for the Vikings after returning from IR and we'll see whatever else there is to see.

    Sunday Night Football

    Browns vs Ravens
    The Questions

For the Browns, it's yet another week of Jeremiah Owusu Koramoah (LB) or Anthony Walker (LB) but beyond that not a ton of movement.

As for the Ravens, there's been a slow and steady reemergence of Patrick Queen (LB) in a different role with less playing time but, real football, playing much better. We'll see if that trend continued and check if Josh Bynes (LB) is still relevant with that in mind.

    Monday Night Football

    Seattle vs Washington
    The Questions

For Washington, we'll check on the safeties as is tradition and also see if Jamin Davis (LB) is a thing yet.

Plus, check if anyone has really stepped into either Montez Sweat (DE) or Chase Young's (DE) shoes as a pass rush replacement. For the Seahawks, we'll see if Jamal Adams (S) was able to continue his mini hot streak and give everything else a decent once over too.

    Johny The Greek

Non-delusional Cowboys Fan. Been playing Fantasy since 2003, IDP since 2004 and watching football for 35 years. Being a firm believer in "you should know if the person you're taking advice from actually knows or wins anything" I'd like to present exhibit A: I have a diamond rating in Yahoo (976) with 29 plus titles in redraft/dynasty across Yahoo, Sleeper, Fantrax and MFL and an additional 57 plus 2nd/3rd place in redraft/dynasty, same platforms. I also play in and have won several all-IDP leagues. I started playing FanDuel with a free entry and have won almost a grand since. I've also won many leagues on the draft app (RIP Draft App, we miss you) and play the maximum number of free college fantasy leagues on Yahoo every year as well with 3 titles and 9 trophies in just two years of playing before Yahoo discontinued those leagues. My profile includes multiple titles in survivor and pick em leagues as well. I was a finalist in the 2021/22 IDP Guys Invitational and the best ball tournament. Also a MFL & Sleeper best ball & eliminator degenerate with many titles there as well. I just started playing All-22 this season and I would bet the mortgage I'll be good at that too. (Update, I did fine, 9-5 first season and made playoffs). What does all that mean? Nothing except when I do something I tend to overdo it. I have been at this for a long time though so I'll help you with your IDP roster and questions however I can whenever I can. I write a weekly streaming IDP corners article (Johny The Greek's Cornerbacks Corner) and whatever I feel like in the offseason. You can find me @OrangeMan3142 on Twitter. Feel free to reach out for any questions or just to talk some football. Check out my articles on Friday mornings all season long. And new this season and going forward stick around for "Johny The Greek's Free Real Estate" where I interview the best and brightest from FF Twitter, and by that I mean the interesting people who actually help you win and not the useless engagement farmers. I am not an "analyst" I'm just a crazy person/degenerate who has been doing this a long time, has been pretty good at it and is dialed in because I have to be to not sound like an idiot writing all these articles and doing all these shows. My style is straightforward & conversational, IDP isn't complicated and you're not trying to win an argument on Twitter you're trying to win your league. Come join me weekly in season for Johny the Greek's Cornerbacks Corner, where we look at the fine art that is streaming corners or finding ways to maximize your production from your CB slots each week. Also in season check out the IDP Pros Podcast on SGPN network. I hope you enjoyed the article. Let us praise our Messiah Babu Frik and give worship to Baby Yoda. Jimmy G would make a fine husband. Thanks for reading. -Johny the Greek-
