2024 NFL Free Agency DBs Winners

Xavier McKinney - Green Bay Packers - 24 years old

McKinney will be an immediate starter for the Packers and produce Top 10 IDP statistics from Game 1. Both starting safeties that ended the 2023 season with the Packers are now free agents and headed elsewhere. Darnell Savage signed a three-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Jonathan Owens signed a two-year deal with the Chicago Bears. That leaves Rudy Ford as the other starting safety, who started eight of the first nine games before hurting his hamstring.

McKinney had his career-best season in 2023 and will fit really nicely in the Packers' defense. He posted 116 tackles (78 solo), 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, 11 passes defended, and 3 interceptions in 2023 with the Giants. The three safeties from the 2023 Packers defense recorded a combined 206 tackles. This is a great fit for McKinney.

Antoine Winfield Jr. - Tampa Bay Buccaneers - 25 years old

Winfield Jr received the franchise tag from the Buccaneers and will stay in the same defense and responsibility he had in 2023. He was the #1 scoring safety in IDP last year. It was an easy decision by the Buccaneers to franchise tag him and start working on the extension. Not only is he a tackling machine with 122 tackles in 2023, but he raises havoc all over the field in multiple ways.

2023 was a career year for Winfield Jr in that along with those tackles, he delivered 6 tackles for a loss, 8 QB hits, 6 sacks, 6 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries, and 3 interceptions. He is a Captain and a Pro Bowler. This is a win for Winfield Jr and a win for the Buccaneers.
