Cornerback is the oddball position when it comes to IDP in fantasy football. For every other position, we can directly reward positive statistics with points. There’s no perfect way to encompass how dominant a cornerback has been in a fantasy game yet. So that means we must focus on the factors that matter. Snap share, tackle efficiency, and playmaking ability. That gives us the best shot to project which players are worth selecting in your rookie drafts this offseason.

Here are three rookie dynasty cornerback prospects that I think will not only be given the requisite draft capital (1st or 2nd) for a large snap share, but also averaged 9 fantasy points per game (solo tackles, pass deflections, and interceptions) in the last two seasons in IDP123 and scored above a 70.0 run grade on PFF.

Cooper DeJean - Iowa

Cooper DeJean earned unanimous All-American honors as the much-applauded Iowa Hawkeyes defense leader. He’s a twitchy athlete who not only tackles with confidence but also has some of the best ball skills in this draft. He snagged 5 interceptions in 2022 and returned three of them for touchdowns. The bottom line is that DeJean is a playmaker always around the ball.

I believe he can play outside and in the slot, which only adds to his opportunity to score fantasy points. I’d take him first out of all the cornerbacks in this class but only do so after the talent at edge rusher, linebacker, and safety runs out. After all, cornerback is still the least predictable position in IDP.
